The eleventh OVA episode "Taicho War!" "Taichō Wō!" (ガールズ&パンツァー タイチョウ・ウォー！) is a special episode that was released on March 27th, 2024.
Plot[]
These days, there are concerns that young people are turning away from tanks. In order to convey the appeal of Sensha-do to the next generation, the commanders of each school gather for a summit. Each school commander freely puts forward ideas, but the meeting goes astray...?
The Meeting[]
During a meeting with the commanders of the different schools, Momo Kawashima apologizes for calling everyone at such short notice. It turns out that Momo’s called everyone over because despite the recent surge of interest in Sensha-do, the sport still hasn’t gained momentum amongst the masses, and to this end, the Japan Sensha-Dō Federation has asked the schools to come up with ideas.
Different Suggestions[]
The girls immediately suggest their school’s own strengths: Darjeeling believes that they should promote Sensha-do in conjunction with the British custom of afternoon tea, and Marie suggests that an all-you-can-eat viking dessert would also be nice. Kay of Saunders believes that a parade with an all-American cuisine could be appealing, leading Anchovy to append that perhaps pizza, pasta and gelato would allow a little more variety.
Distraction[]
While the overall commanders get carried away with their proposals, Katyusha becomes distracted by Koala Forest Academy’s overall commander, a Koala bear, and asks to cuddle him. With the ideas getting nowhere, Kay returns to the prospect of doing a parade with tanks, but Erika objects and indicates Kuromorimine will refuse to participate if this happens. When Katyusha threatens to send everyone to Siberia if they don't come up with an idea in five seconds, Miho offers the idea of making a video.
The promotional video[]
After Momo shows the video to the other commanders, Kinuyo Nishi is moved to tears and is completely on board with the idea, prompting the other commanders to support the proposal. Kay is all in favor of an action video, but this is rejected, since the point of Sensha-do is not to promote violence. Nishi wants to make a video about how Sensha-do will promote beauty and grace, and at the moment Erika gets excited, although her idea ends up being little more than an Oktoberfest commercial. Marie’s idea to do a can-can dance is also rejected.
Katyusha comments on how this process is challenging because the tanks themselves are quite rigid and disciplined, making it difficult to see Sensha-do as being fun. When Koala speaks up and suggests making Sensha-do cuter, all the commanders agree. Although Momo doesn't know what to do, Miho has an idea and the girls end up making a dance with the commanders dressed as tanks. When they release the video, it gets a mixed reception: Viewers think it's adorable, but failing to promote Sensha-do, which makes Momo wonder what they did wrong.
