Haru Fukuda (福田 はる, Fukuda Haru) is one of the supporting characters in Girls und Panzer : Der Film.
Profile[]
Haru is a first year student and one of the Chi-Ha-Tan Academy students seen in the movie. She's the commander of a Type 95 Ha-Gō.
In Girls und Panzer: Ribbon Warrior, she serves as the overall commander in Chi-Ha-Tan's Tankathlon team.
Appearance[]
Haru is a short bespectacled girl with chest-length dark-black hair that is tied in low french braids with square bangs exposing her forehead, brown eyes and big oval-shaped glasses. She is seen to wear Chi-Ha-Tan uniform. However, her small bust size causes her uniform top to be looser and cover more of her skirt than her teammates. During battel she is most of time seen with a helmet. That helmet is brown, and oval.
Personality[]
Haru is a sensitive, fearful and somewhat shy girl who seems to lack self-confidence. As a first year, she wants to imitate her older teammates, althought since she tend to be more pragmatic then her teammates she sometimes express low evidence of disagreement. But she is somewhat awkward and tends to stick herself in bad situations. She tries to charge more than once during the friendly match after watching all her comrades being shot down before being blocked by Mallard Team and Duck Team.
However, she also proved that she can be pretty smart: she deciphered what Duck Team had told her after the exhibition match during a meal with them and suggested another set of strategy to Kinuyo Nishi and the rest of the Sensha-do team (not without angering Tamaki Tamada and Shizuko Hosomi) that doesn't include suicide-charging which was proven useful during the Winter Continuous Track Cup and somehow became the secondary commander during the said competition behind Kinuyo.
Background[]
Fukuda Haru is seen to have close relation to Duck team. Same as another her teammates, she also admire Nishi Kinuyo for her prettiness, and for her behaivour. She been nervous when Nishi Kinuyo start to brade her hair. Fukuda Haru even been seen to write article about Nishi Kinuyo's beauty. Fukuda Haru is also seen to instruct Nishi Kinuyo about use of computer, since Nishi Kinuyo, is not well acquainted in that field.
Etymology[]
- Haru's surname Fukuda means "happiness, fortune/good fortune, blessing, luck, wealth, weal" (福) (fuku) and "field, rice paddy" (田) (ta/da).
Trivia[]
- Haru address Duck Team as Duck (Ahiru)-dono.
- She also refers to each of Duck Team member with a strange nickname.
- Haru is the second shortest character in the show; 8 cm taller than Katyusha.
- At the end credit of Girls und Panzer der Film, Haru can be seen sleeping while hugging a toy duck, perhaps as a reference of how she admires Duck Team.
- Her character is probably based on Japanese author, historian, and WWII solider Ryotaro Shiba whose real name was Teiichi Fukuda.
