Ekaterina (エカチェリーナ) is a secondary character from Girls und Panzer: Saga of Pravda.
Profile[]
Also known as Permafrost Ekaterina, she was a third year student and the former Overall Commander of Pravda Girls High School Sensha-dō Team at the time of the 61st Sensha-dō Tournament, she was commanding an IS-2. Her real name is Reni Uraji (浦路玲邇, Uraji Reni).
Appearance[]
Ekaterina is a girl of average height with shoulder-length black hair. She usually wearing Pravda Girls High School's school uniform outside of matches and the overall commander uniform during matchs.
Personality[]
She is shown to a capable commander with good tactical abilities, but lacking in flexibility against unexpected scenarios and prone to narrow-mindedness due to her conservative personality. She is much appreaciated by the maintenance staff for her ability to reduce wear and tear of the school's tanks due to favouring the use of defensive tactics.
However she is quite rancorous as she deployed her best tanks and tankers against first years during their first match, in retaliation because some first years violently bullied her comrade Polina. She will hold a grudge against them for the rest of year, she also shown little respect for them, however it is unknown if it's her usual behavious or because of the troubled relationships with them, especially Katyusha.
Unlike others Pravda students, she takes defeat particularly hard, seeing their loss against Katyusha's first years as utter humiliation and breaking down crying at their elimination during the 61st National Tournament.
Background[]
During the first match of the year opposing the first years to third years, the later usually give a handicap to the freshmen by using only light tanks, however due to the severe beating that three first years gave to Polina thinking she was a first year, Ekaterina decided to come with a full force to teach them a lesson. The difference in skill and equipment results in the third years demolishing most of the first year forces, leaving only Katyusha and Nonna still standing. Ekaterina, noticing there's something different about Katyusha, urges her best friend and gunner Olga to stay alert to their movements. Katyusha then feigns a communications breakdown and orders Nonna to assault the third years, her agressive tactic takes the third years by surprise and after a lack of judgement, she ordered all her tanks to open fire on Katyusha at the same time, she realized her mistake when she saw Nonna dangerously aiming at her, in panic she urges her loader to quicken the reloading perfectly knowning she wouldn't make it, this prematurate decision give Nonna a small window of oportunity is opened that allows her to take out Ekaterina's IS-2 with a trap shot, much to everyone's surprise.
Ekaterina was shown to be absolutely furious at the unexpected loss, humiliated that newbies could take out third years despite giving them no handicap. Olga tried her best to calm down her friend and urges her to take action now, lest the first years start acting up and affecting team discipline. Thus, Katyusha is called for a private review of the training session, where the third years are shown willing to accept Katyusha telltale that her victory was nothing more than a fluke because she lost control of her crew.
As time passes and training for the upcoming 61st National Tournament continues, Ekaterina reluctanctly comes to see Katyusha's skill, even aknowledging to Olga in private that the young student is showing more promise than some of their second years. She decides to have Katyusha on the tournament team as a reserve.
Pravda's Sensha-Dō team then faced against St. Gloriana Girls College in the semi-finals of the tournament. Despite her attempts to keep her team under control, the hit and run tactics employed by Earl Grey began pushing on her team's nerves affecting their performance, which at various points broke formation engaging St. Gloriana tanks. Katyusha attempted to provide her own insight on how to counter St. Gloriana tactics, but her input was disregarded on account of her being just a first year. Ekaterina was then successfully baited to attack a group of charging Crusaders led by Earl Grey and her Cromwell, which created a breach in her defense and gave Darjeeling's Churchill hidden in the forest a clear shot on her IS-2. Katyusha saw through this tactic and rushed her T-34 against orders in an attempt to shield Ekaterina's IS-2, but despite successfully blocking the first shot, Assam was able to fire a second shot right through the turret ring that took out the IS-2 and ended the match. In the aftermath of the match, inside the IS-2, a devastated Ekaterina and Olga cried at their elimination from the tournament.
After the tournament she graduated leaving her post to Natalia, but she continues alongside Olga to keep an eye on the first years, showing deep regrets for not making to the finals and for not asking to the 9th Independant Tank Brigade help for more intense training. She even began to show some respect to Katyusha despite not liking her scheming attitude, the two finally discussed about Pravda future seeing on one side the second years under Natalia who just want to have fun and the first years under Katyusha who are hell-bent on victory, predicting a conflict that Natalia couldn't push down. In the end as an alumnae she can't interfere with the Sensha-dō anymore, even she is frustrated that no one ask her advices on how to lead a Sensha-dō team.

- Her favorite music is classical music (especially of the Romantic era beginning circa 1800 and ending in 1910).
- Her favorite food is Ichigo-ni.
- Her nickname Permafrost is a reference to the continuously frozen ground, located on land or under the ocean. It can be found in Alaska, Greenland, Canada, Siberia, some mountains and some parts under the sea.
