Chiyo Shimada (島田千代, Shimada Chiyo) is one of the supporting characters in Girls und Panzer der Film. She is the current head of the Shimada Style and the mother of Alice Shimada.

Chiyo Shimda is a member of the Japan Sensha-dō Federation, Head of All-Stars University Team on with her daugther paticipated before she transfered into St. Gloriana. She is also master of the Shimada style of Sensha-dō, with is long-term rival of Nishizumi style. She is the current head of the Shimada Family. Sh
Appearance[]
Chiyo is a beautiful pale-skinned woman with long, light brown-grey hair tied with a black ribbon but with wide strands of hair left on the sides, and hazel eyes. She wear white shirt with high colar and black ribbon on it, red-purpel undercoat with two pockets on a bottom front side and black detail on a collar edge. She also have long skirt of same colour with two long vertical black stripes on a top front. This skirt is tied on a upper half and loosely on a lower half. She have long brown probably leather lace-up boots with heels and brown probably leather gloves. Sometimes she also can be seen to wear black beret. Her appearance is a lot less cold and her manner more friendly than Shiho Nishizumi. Physically she bears a striking resemblance to her daughter, Alice.
Personality[]
Chiyo is a very calm and refined woman who seems very intelligent. She is dedicated to being the best, and to her family's sensha-dō style being recognized as superior to all others, as proven in public demonstrations: when she calls Alice just before the match against the University All-Stars Team, she tells her to destroy the name of Nishizumi style. This is despite Ooarai not necessarily practicing the Nishizumi Style of sensha-dō, but perhaps because Shiho Nishizumi, her longtime rival, has become Ooarai's advocate, and because the team is led by Shiho's second daughter, Miho Nishizumi. However, this is distinctly a matter of professional rivalry, and despite this behavior it is clear she's not a bad person —as, at the conclusion of the Ooarai vs. University All-Stars match, she and Shiho tacitly acknowledge that the competition may have become too personal. She tends, however, to have trouble accepting Alice is growing up.
Etymology[]
- The name Chiyo means "thousand" (千) (chi) and "generation" (代) or "world" (世) (yo).
- Chiyo's surname Shimada means "island" (島) (shima) and "field, rice paddy" (田) (da).
Trivia[]
- The Shimada family is mentioned by Anchovy right before the match against Ooarai Girls Academy on the Anzio OVA.
- Nicknamed Chiyokichi by Shiho in MLLSD. It's implied that they've been friends for a long time. They also seem to want their daughters to fight each other in a match.
- There is a running joke/fan theory that Mika is her oldest daughter (ie. being Alice's older sister). While this theory is non-canonical, there are several notable similarities.
- Them all Chiyo Mika and Alice's appearances and personalities are similar.
- Display great prowess in Sensha-dō, with their combat style being close combat brawls.
- Extremely aloof in general.
- Several official arts depict Mika and Alice being next to each other, much like the Nishizumi sisters are often drawn together.
- She have birthday on same day as NATO was founded.
